Delightfully Durango is a delicious collection of recipes from some of Durango, Colorado’s favorite chefs and restaurants. This book also features gorgeous photography, great columns on eating locally, selecting wine, and buying and cooking meats, along with chef biographies.
This cookbook features recipes from: East by Southwest, Cyprus Cafe, The Ore House, The Palace, Randy’s, Guido’s, Norton’s Catering Company,Celebration Cakes, Cosmo Bar & Dining, Francisco’s Restaurant, Himalayan Kitchen, The Golden Triangle, The Irish Embassy, Red Snapper, Zia Taqueria, Serious Delights, The Sow’s Ear, Homeslice Pizza, eno wine bar and coffee cafe.
Here’s what I like about this cookbook: Most recipes can be pulled together with one quick trip to the grocery store. Better yet, if you have a garden and a decently stocked pantry, you’re going to love this 100-page primer.
There are a lot of old classics such as chicken martini, tarragon and teriyaki. Sure, you can get those recipes online, but here’s the deal – if you’ve spent a few years in Durango, you’ll identify the dishes with the very places that offer old-shoe comfort. Who can pass up reading the Palace’s decades-old recipe for Chicken and Dumplings?
You’ll smile, just as I did.
